Martin Schaffel

Executive Chairman

Martin Schaffel founded former company Audio Visual Innovations in 1979. He began his career in management with a national retailer and later joined a large office products distributor. He has since built a successful business in the sale of audio video products and services to the corporate, education, military and government markets nationwide.

As the executive chairman, Mr. Schaffel's role is to determine the market trends and AVI-SPL's ability to adapt and shape its direction to stay competitive and provide cutting-edge AV and presentation technology. In doing this, Mr. Schaffel spends a vast majority of his time keeping in close contact with manufacturers, and dedicates himself to research and analysis of all new and current technology and products. He also spends his time mentoring employees and working with very large clients.

Mr. Schaffel is affiliated with numerous industry-related organizations. He is on the Board of the Tampa Bay Performing Arts Center, the Florida Orchestra, Berkeley Preparatory School, and the Executive Committee of the Center for Entrepreneurship at the University of Florida College of Business. He also guest lectures at the University of Florida, and is on the Board of Directors of Prospect Smarter, a Tampa-headquartered technology firm.

Mr. Schaffel was awarded the Certified Technology Specialist (CTS) designation by the ICIA, and received an Honorable Mention in the International Association of Business Communications Excel Award, which recognizes Excellence in Communication Leadership (1997).
